(MBU) capillaries for intranatal micro-blood sampling of the foetus after Prof. Saling – greater safety with risk findings during the birth
Greater safety due to accurate checks
In the event of increased risk during birth with regard to oxygen deficiency of the child, both mother and child must be monitored particularly thoroughly.
If suspicious heart rate patterns occur when recording the child’s heartbeat in combination with the contractions, it is advisable to apply additional diagnostic measures, in order to obtain a more accurate picture of the condition of the foetus, e.g. by examination of foetal blood samples.
Safe blood sampling with the MBU capillary
The modern and safe technique for checking the oxygen supply condition of the child during the birth consists of intranatal micro-blood sampling (Mikroblutuntersuchung - MBU). With this technique, the doctor, using the specially developed capillary, can take a drop of blood from the scalp of the unborn child, transfer it to the blood gas analysis device, and in the shortest possible time obtain the necessary information on the pH level and oxygen content of the child’s blood, which can be decisive for the further course of the birth.

The MBU glass capillaries with heparinised filament developed by Prof. Saling for this examination method are manufactured and distributed exclusively by the firm of DIA-Nielsen GmbH & Co. KG.
